Sex Offender Registry Notification Act
What is SORNA?
The acronym for SORNA is Sex Offender Registry Notification Act. SORNA is a nationwide federal law enacted in 2006 under President George W. Bush, which the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was conceived. This federal law requires all convicted sex offenders to register within their local SORNA or Law Enforcement offices.
About the SORNA Program:
The SORNA Program was implemented in June 2011 with the Santo Domingo Tribal Council approval; the program works collaboratively with the Tribal Courts Department. The implementation of the program requires all convicted sex offenders who reside, are employed, or attends a school within Santo Domingo tribal lands must register with the tribe. The purpose for the program is to improve public safety by ensuring that sex offenders are registered and tracked, and that relevant information is shared with authorities and the public.

There are several ways to obtain public information on sex offenders. You may enter the office in person to view a booklet of all offenders residing within Santo Domingo Tribal jurisdiction or you may call to inquire about information.
